Terms of Use
Use SourceBrief as a starting point, not a final verdict.
These terms explain the basic rules and limitations for using SourceBrief, a free utility for exploring public GitHub repository information.
Last updated: 4 September 2026
Acceptable use
Use SourceBrief only with public GitHub repositories and public information that you are comfortable querying in your browser. Do not submit secrets, private repository details, credentials, personal data, or confidential business information.
Information quality
SourceBrief generates summaries and prompts from public repository signals. The output may be incomplete, outdated, wrong, rate-limited, or influenced by missing README and metadata context.
No professional advice
SourceBrief is not a security audit, legal review, licence opinion, compliance check, procurement approval, or engineering sign-off. You are responsible for reviewing code, dependencies, licences, issues, releases, and security notes before using any repository.
No warranties
SourceBrief is provided as-is and as-available. There is no promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or suitable for your specific use case.
Third-party services
SourceBrief relies on public GitHub data and may link to GitHub pages or related repositories. GitHub and any third-party destinations operate under their own terms, policies, availability, and rate limits.
Feedback and public issues
If you submit feedback through a GitHub issue, your report may be public. Do not include private data, secrets, tokens, private repo names, or anything you do not want visible to others.
Advertising
SourceBrief may reserve layout space for future advertising. Placeholder ad zones are not endorsements, and no live advertising scripts are active unless clearly added later.
Changes
These terms may change as SourceBrief evolves. Continued use of the site after updates means you accept the latest version.
